ADVANCED MEDICAL NUTRITION
Nutricia reinforces commitment to improving cancer care
ESMO’s first preceptorship programme on Supportive Care
The partnership has been further expanded with Nutricia’s contribution to ESMO’s first preceptorship programme on Supportive Care. The preceptorship is the first traineeship of its kind provided as an independent medical education module on all aspects of supportive and palliative care.
Positively contribute to clinical outcomes and quality of life
Nutritional therapy is considered to be a form of supportive care that can positively contribute to clinical outcomes and quality of life. Medical nutrition can help avoid the weight loss many patients face during their cancer treatment. The more stable a patient’s weight during treatment the more precisely treatment doses can be prescribed, which in turn can affect the efficacy of the primary treatment on clinical outcomes and quality of life of the patient.
Of 60 medical oncologists
Role of medical nutrition in cancer care
The ESMO young oncologists’ committee selected a group of 60 medical oncologists that will attend the European Preceptorship 20-21 February in Zurich. World renowned experts will educate these medical doctors and PhD. candidates on supportive care and specifically the role of medical nutrition in cancer care.
This medical education module in partnership with ESMO is another demonstration of Nutricia’s commitment to advancing education about the role of medical nutrition for an ever increasing group of medical oncologists. In doing so it is another step forward in establishing medical nutrition as an integral part of cancer care.
