PKU Nutri 3 Energy is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision.
PKU Nutri 3 Energy is an amino acid based phenylalanine-free powder containing essential and non-essential amino acids, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
For the dietary management of proven phenylketonuria (PKU) in children over 9 years of age and adults, including pregnant women. Supplemental iron may need to be provided during pregnancy.
Must only be used under strict medical supervision. Not intended for use as the sole source of nutrition. Not for parenteral use. Not suitable for metabolic disorders other than PKU. Not intended for infants or young children. This product should not be used as a sole source of protein but must begiven in conjunction with natural protein and other nutrients to supply the phenylalanine, fluid and general nutrition requirements of the patient in quantities as prescribed by a clinician or dietitian.
The dosage, dilution and quantity of the feed should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient. The suggested intake should be divided into 3 to 5 equal portions distributed throughout the day.
PKU Nutri 3 Energy is best served as a chilled drink. Add the prescribed amount of powder to a shaker, add the desired volume of water and shake.
Recommended feed concentration: It is recommended that the patient starts at a 1 to 5 dilution and builds up to a 1 to 4 dilution.
Osmolality (Unflavoured)
• 1 to 5 (i.e. 100g powder plus 500ml water) = 830 mOsmol/kg H2O
• 1 to 4 (i.e. 100g powder plus 400ml water) = 1060 mOsmol/kg H2O
These dilutions are guidelines only. Can be taken as a more concentrated drink or paste, but additional water or diluted drinks must be taken at the same time.
Store in a cool, dry place. Always replace container lid after use. Once opened, use within one month. Once reconstituted, the prepared feed should be stored in a refrigerator and must not be kept longer than 24 hours from the time of preparation. Stir or shake immediately before use.
