Dr. Paula Jiménez-Fonseca (Chair)
Medical Oncologist, Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias, Oviedo, Spain.

Dr. Paula Jiménez Fonseca is a recognized Medical Specialist in Oncology, work that she has performed for more than 20 years in health centers such as the Central University Hospital of Asturias, in the Digestive and Endocrine Tumors Section. Doctor in Medicine from the University of Oviedo, Paula Jiménez Fonseca, has carried out important research work, being the coordinator of relevant studies on Cancer. For example, she has coordinated the TRASGU study of Nomograms and Neuroendocrine Tumors IV in the Spanish Group of Neuroendocrine and Endocrine Tumors (GETNE), in addition to performing such functions for the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) in studies such as NEOcoping or NEOetic. She has been the president of the AGAMENON Group for research in Gastric Cancer.

Among her research areas, she has made contributions in radiological response in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors treated with sunitinib; as well as in febrile neutropenia, Anxiety and Depression in oncological patients and in the genomic profile of HER2-positive Gastric Cancer. These contributions have been collected in articles published in high impact journals.

Dr. Scotté heads Gustave Roussy's Interdisciplinary Department for the Organization of Patient Pathways (DIOPP), created in March 2020. Dr. Scotté is a medical oncologist and holds a doctorate of science in medical ethics. A national and international leader in supportive care, he is President of the Multinational Association for Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), vice-president of the Association francophone pour les soins oncologiques de support (AFSOS), and member of the steering committee of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO).

Before joining Gustave Roussy, Dr. Florian Scotté opened and developed the chemotherapy day hospital at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital (AP-HP) in 2000, and then created the first oncology supportive care hospitalization unit there. In 2017, he joined the Foch Hospital in Suresnes, where he became head of the medical oncology and supportive care department.

Florian Scotté has led several research programs and is the author of numerous publications, notably on cooling gloves to limit the toxicity of certain chemotherapies on the skin and nails, or on the organization of the cancer treatment circuit in day hospitalization. He is also at the origin of the support care barometer, which provides an overview of the development of this type of organization in health care institutions in France.

Prof. Maurizio Muscaritoli

Prof. Maurizio Muscaritoli,

Prof. Muscaritoli received his Medical Degree in 1982 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Nephrology subsequently. He worked as a research fellow in Dr. Michael Meguid’s laboratory at Department of Surgery, SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY. Thereafter, he joined the University “La Sapienza” first as an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, then as an associate professor in 2001.

At Sapienza University in Roma, Prof. Muscaritoli is full professor of internal medicine, Vice-Director of the Department of Translational and Precision Medicine, Director of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition Unit and Director of the Residency School in Internal Medicine.

Prof. Muscaritoli has several active roles in the European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), including currently acting as Chairman of the Special Interest Group on Cachexia-anorexia in Chronic Diseases. He is Chairman of the Italian Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SINuC), and Past-Chairman Italian Society of Artificial Nutrition (SINPE). In addition, Prof. Muscaritoli is Chief Section Editor of Frontiers in Nutrition-Clinical Nutrition, and Associate Editor of Internal and Emergency Medicine, Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition and Metabolism journals.

Prof. Muscaritoli’s main research interests include mechanisms of cancer cachexia, mechanisms of malnutrition and muscle loss in cancer and other chronic diseases, artificial nutrition and home artificial nutrition. He is author of more than 150 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as book chapters and clinical guidelines.

Dr. Vilma Pacheco Barcia obtained her degree in Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (2013). She is a Medical Oncology consultant after completing her residency at the Hospital Universitario La Princesa (2019). She has completed two international observership programs to expand her training at McGill University Health Center and Perlmutter Cancer Center - NYU Langone Health. She received the FSEOM-Merck "Somos Futuro" Award for career path during residency (2020).

Vilma Pacheco holds a PhD in Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid for the project entitled "Systemic Inflammatory Response Index: Prognostic Factor in pancreatic cancer" (2021) and Master’s degree in Molecular Oncology by CEB (2021). Professor of the chapter on Nutrition in the Oncology Patient of the Master's Degree in Nutrition, Obesity and Microbiota of UDIMA (2023-2024).

Her research is focused since 2016 on the study of the prognostic relevance of systemic inflammation in pancreatic cancer patients and the nutritional aspects of these patients. She is the Coordinator of the PANTHEIA-SEOM multicenter study of prognostic and predictive factors of response in patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer and their nutritional evolution throughout the disease.
