Nutricia Preterm Protein Supplement

Preterm

Product description

Nutricia Preterm Protein Supplement is a food for special medical purposes for the dietary management of extremely low birth weight preterm infants weighing <1kg. Nutricia Preterm Protein Supplement must be used under medical supervision.

Nutricia’s Preterm Protein Supplement is formulated to meet the elevated protein requirements of ELBW preterm infants. Enriching human milk to meet these protein requirements with HMF alone may mean over-enrichment of minerals and vitamins. The PS can be used to enrich solely with protein. It is available in powdered form to be added to fortified human milk or Neonatal stage 1, with the following key characteristics:

  • Supports and encourages human milk feeding
  • Allows flexible protein fortification to meet the high protein needs of preterm infants <1000g
  • Contains extensively hydrolysed protein,
  • Contains a mixture of casein and whey protein hydrolysates (ratio 50:50) for an amino acid profile closer to that found in human milk.
